User Guide
A reference for navigating and configuring Video Library Generator after installation. If you haven't installed yet, start with the Installation Guide first.
Dashboard
The Dashboard is your at-a-glance view of the library. From here you can see:
- Total video count in your library
- Queued background tasks and their progress
- Recent activity, including sync jobs and errors
- Your library's current hosting domain
- Your administrator role
Recent activity is shown in reverse chronological order, so the latest work is always on top.
Settings
Settings is where you configure your library's behavior. The page is organized into focused sections.
Account
Read-only information about your store and user record: registered email address, BigCommerce user ID, store hash, and the OAuth scope granted to the app.
Store
Set your Library Domain — the hostname where the library is served. This is the only required configuration to start generating a library. Enter the bare hostname; no protocol, no trailing slash.
Library Domain Settings
Path-level configuration if your library lives under a subdirectory of an existing site (for example, yourstore.com/videos rather than videos.yourstore.com).
Layout Settings
Choose the visual theme of your library and control category-level behavior:
- Layout theme — default, or any custom theme you've licensed
- Whether to promote videos up through categories that contain none directly
Integrations
Third-party verification codes:
- Google Site Verification — paste the content value from your verification meta tag
Other Script Injections
Custom HTML injected into every library page. Use for analytics, custom styles, or third-party scripts. You are responsible for ensuring any code added complies with applicable privacy laws — see the Privacy Policy for details.
- Page Header Injection — inserted inside the head on every page
- Body Footer Injection — inserted just before the closing body tag on every page
- robots.txt override
Login Passcode
The 16-character standalone access token. Keep it secret — anyone with this code can access your store settings. You can reveal it on screen, copy it, or email it to your registered address.
Analysis Tools
Three diagnostic pages help you verify your library is indexed and served correctly:
- RSS — parses your library's rss.xml feed and reports item count, titles, and publish dates
- Sitemap — parses sitemap.xml and shows URL count, depth distribution, and freshness
- Robots — fetches robots.txt at the domain root and parses the crawl rules per user-agent
Each page surfaces issues clearly so you can fix problems before search engines see them.
Help
Step-by-step guides for connecting your library to external services:
- Google — submit your sitemap to Search Console and verify ownership
- YouTube — connecting source channels
- Facebook — Open Graph integration
- RSS — what to do with your library's feed
- Sitemap — how search engines use it
- Robots — when and why to override the default
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to build the library?
Initial generation depends on catalog size. A small store with under 100 products typically completes within an hour. Larger catalogs of 1,000+ products may take several hours. Subsequent syncs are incremental and complete in minutes.
Can I customize the library design?
Yes — the default theme is fully responsive and built to match a wide range of brand palettes. Custom themes are available; contact us for licensing details.
What happens if I uninstall?
Your data is deleted from our systems within minutes of uninstall. The library at your configured domain remains accessible until you take down the DNS record.
Where can I report issues or request features?
Email support@videolibrarygenerator.com with details. We respond within one business day.
